David Traversi has been painting abstracts - pure abstracts, abstract landscapes, and abstract figuratives - for twenty years. Self-taught and using acrylic on canvas and wood panel, Traversi has created hundreds of pieces now in private collections around the world. His work was first publicly represented for years in the pieces gallery in Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country. Since then, he has primarily created works on a commission basis for individual collectors and businesses.
In his primary career as a businessperson (www.traversi.com) including experience as a lawyer, investment banker, corporate adviser, corporate chief executive, and investment manager, Traversi has traveled the world. Over the past 35 years, he has been fortunate to have studied thousands of works of modern masters in the world’s top collections. As with most artists, his works are influenced and inspired by these experiences but are highly unique expressions.
In 2020 and 2021, Traversi released two new series of works reflecting two new directions. Binary is a series that suggests shapes within the constraints of primarily monochromatic colors. Mid-Century Is a study in the colors that defined the post-World War II modernist movement In the U.S. He has several new series in development that he expects to release beginning in late 2021.
